Unwanted House Guest

I'm all for Disney Land, Disney World, Little Mermaid and all those other cartoons.....It's just when one of those four legged creatures scurry along my family room wall I get a little irritated.

I'm mostly irritated because I told my Husband.....(and that's being nice, lots of other things I'd like to call him now!) a couple weeks ago that I saw a little guy scurry out of the garage. I know I heard "I'll take care of it......... "

So, after a long day and ANOTHER VISIT TO THE EMERGENCY CLINIC, I woke up on the couch proceeded to tell Husband to go to bed and forced myself to stay awake so I could get up too.........Husband was upstairs already and I saw this tiny thing scurry along the wall of the fire place. I'm not sure if it got in by way of the fire place (which is seemingly likely) or through the vent where as our family room is mostly on a slab, except where the vent is.....either way, it totally blows that this creature has accessed my home. Ants are bad enough, but come on?!?!?! a MOUSE!?!?!?

Alright, I do have to remind myself that when I was young, numerous mice were trapped in our crawl space at home. I don't know the numbers, but I remember Mom(or was it Dad) using bread bags to carry out the multiple kills. So I guess I'm a little crazy to think it couldn't happen to me. I'm just irritated that Husband didn't act on my first statement. I don't think we would've had this guy as a problem today......

So, I did set a trap with peanut butter last night. This morning Husband says, you know you have to put something on it. So the little snot ate the peanut butter and the trap never went off. Great.......so he's bringing home some sure-fire 'death traps'. Sorry Mickey!

So, you're probably wondering what happened to get to go the Emergency Clinic again. Well, Sweet Pea woke up Sunday morning at 2:30 am and said her hand hurt. I had feared that maybe she broke her hand in a bouncy house that she had played in at a party earlier that day.
I also knew she reacts badly to mosquito bites. I vaguely could make out a bite on her middle finger. So I give her Motrin (all that was on hand) put some calamine lotion on and call it a night. That morning the swelling is worse and it's not going down and now it's red. Husband gets home
from his building check, cuts the lawn and we decide it's a good idea to take her in before it closes. Just me though, cause you never know how long it's gonna take and Handsome had to take another nap. I believe we got there at 3:30 pm and we didn't get home 'til 7:00 pm....long day.....the Dr. said it was an 'insect bite' (who knows what kind as I checked her bed that night and tore the sheets off .......Also, it could've been at the party we were at and she was reacting to it later)and that her reaction was more so than average.....great......took pictures, will have to download, but right now, I've got to finish some of a report for work.....

Ahhhh, gotta love those jam-packed weekends! I'm grateful to be part-time.

Upcoming Wedding Plans

First things first, before I forget. Here's Handsome in his new shoes!

So, how are those plans going for that upcoming trip you say? O'kay I guess. The hotel, airfare and car rental as you know have been booked for a while. Sweet Pea's dress is here and I just got shoes for her. A steal at $9.99! I'm sure they will rip the crap out of her feet! Ha! So other than frilly socks.......which I have yet to find, she's ready! I've got a web site or two to head to, but the socks are like $6.50 each and it casots that much to ship them?!?!?! $13 for apir of socks to be worn once?!?! I don't think so. The socks have to be special too.....Not lace, but have organza on them....otherwise it won't look quite right with the dress! So I've got a boutique to check out near my work and after that, I may just cave in to be 'done', so much for budgeting. Which by the way, budgeting is going horribly........don't ask.

Tomorrow, Husband and I are going shopping for a new suit for him. I know....i'm thinking about the budget too.....anywhoo, he hasn't gotten a new suit since BEFORE my brother got married in 1998. He's a jeans and t-shirt guy.....I know you're thinking, he's low maitnenance again, but the t-shirts have to be certain ones and not black.....::eye roll:: Plus, when he gets a suit, since he doesn't buy one very often, it's gotta be a nice one.....last time I thihnk we spent $500 on the entire ensemble.....The good news is we have two weddings to wear it too! Bad news is, we really got to get it tomorrow. More good news, one of Sweet Pea's favorite cousins is coming to watch them for a few hours tomorrow.

Next I need to find time to get a dress for myself. This is going to be a more-up-scale event and I just must dress the part! ::wink:: A girl can have some fun, can't she?

Speaking of fun!?!?!? Girls night out tonight! The girls will be gathering for snacks, beverages and games or fun! We began getting together BEFORE children entered any of our lives and it's always a good time! It was quite a regular basis gathering. We'd play poker, or try to learn and play poker! I understand that 'bunko' is a housewive's game that ladies get together to just drink. I guess it's a game you don't have to think about when you play.....at least we were trying to learn how to play poker! When children started entering the picture, well, quite honestly, I just didn't have the energy. WE tried a few times, but having recently gotten together in April, or was it May? I think we can start this monthly thing back up! Hooray! With babies sleeping most of the night, at least I've got a little more energy!

Back to the shopping and dress hunt. Well, although I DID win the second weight loss bet with my boss by .3%, yes, that's point three percent! I'd still like to lose another 5.6-ish pounds. More importantly, I'd like to tone up before the wedding. Can I do that in 21 days? Stay tuned to find out! I'm sure gonna try! So that's another 4%....YOU do the math! Congrats! You know my weight!

I guess the only person left is Handsome. I think I need to get him some sandals as he may be going casual. Nana is shortening his pants he had on in his 6 month picture. yep, they still fit.....I think he'll look nice, but it needs to be finished off with sandals.

Husband is convinced he wont be eating at the reception. The wedding doesn't start until 7:00 pm.......I hope he's wrong and gets to enjoy dinner. Somewhat enjoy dinner. Besides, it's the PERFECT excuse to get out of haning out at the reception! Oh, sorry, I've got to go put Handsome down! Husband's barely got rythym and I usually only get a couple dances in anyways! MOre later!
I'll end with a photo taken of a moment with the sprinkler this past weekend! THis was the 'strength' of sprinkler spray that was favored!

Shoes!

Okay, following after a fellow blogger, Jacob will now be known as "Handsome" and Autumn will be "Sweet Pea"......I had started out somewhat anonymous, but faltered and I think it'd just be better if I did that.

Back to today. Today, was a busy day, I got two hours of working on a report in this morning, then mowed the lawn, then shopping. Handsome got his first pair of REAL shoes today! Wait, let's do the math. Yes, he's 15 months old, but let me explain. That boy has odd feet. I don't know if they are flat feet, or if they are "thick" from the floor to the top of his foot. I was completely relieved when the woman helping us was super sweet and slipped those new shoes on like no body's business! So, he's a size 3.5. It's not like I haven't tried to put shoes on him, but I had to go to Striderite, the expensive ones, for his first. I'm glad I did, but my pocketbook is not......Sweet Pea's original shoes were a size 2.......I've got a picture of her first shoe excursion, due to Nanarazzi. I also now have Handsome's first shoe excursion!

Oh, I also spent an extra $6.50 on a shirt from Janie and Jack's...SCORE!!!...I couldn't help myself! Also purchased Father's Day gift.... A light for the grill. It get attached to the handle..... I'll report back on that. Although Husband is a low-maintenance man, when it comes to clothes and gifts, he's high maintenance. Not that what I have to purchase has to be expensive or name brand, but he's just so dang picky!

He looks at me like I"m nuts when I say he's high maintenance....there's other reasons too, but there isn't enough time in one night! ::wink::

My Oldest Dearest Friend

I am originally from a small town in Illinois. A town that used to be a tiny southwest suburb of Chicago. It's still small and basically unaffordable to live there. We were about 3 years too late.......such is life.

My 20th High School Reunion is coming up this fall. I think these ten year intervals from High School feel more depressing than hitting the big 30 and the big 40, at least I think the big 40. There are several things to potentially attend for the reunion and the only thing I care about the whole thing is a night out and to catch up with my oldest and dearest friend Georgette.

Georgette and I met at Happy Hands preschool in our home town in, I believe 1974. She's been with me through a lot of things and is the most non-judgemental friend I've ever had. She's an awesome listener too. We used to pick on our Moms because they'd get together for their cheese and vino chat sessions, but I think now, if she lived closer, we'd be much the same!

Although at times , when we were in High School I wish she wouldn't have been so darned popular (Class President), I'm pretty lucky to have remained friends with her for so long. We can pick up the conversation right where we left off.

So we went through church and school together and yes, were even on a bowling team together. Hey!? It WAS the 1970's!!!! She was the only person, when I got the flu when trying out for basketball freshman year, who understood and felt horrible when I didn't make the team. She was there when my Gramma passed away my Sophomore year. She was there for me when a relative took his life in my Junior year. I broke down when I saw her. She was there when I was mortified that my boyfriend ditched me my Senior year. ::I hope he's bald:: ::smirk:: She was the only person I visited (by myself....big deal for an over-protected little sister) in College. I went to college locally and worked at my brother's pizza place (remind me to chat about that one day!). When my career began and she moved out to the mountains, I visited her......it's beautiful out there! She was in my wedding. She's easy to talk to and I don't have to explain much. She was with me (not literally you sickos!) when Husband and I were having trouble trying to conceive and for so, so much more. I always know I could call her if I need to feel better. I'm sure she doesn't know that. I consider her my sister.

She has a son one day older than Autumn and a daughter 3 years older than Autumn. I wish we lived closer 'cause I'd love to have a Mom to really relate to and have fun with. She's a stay-at-home mom (she works part-time from home) who's keeping it real. Hard for me to find someone in the middle of the spectrum as moms tend to slide to one side or the other.

I miss her and although she's always a hot commodity when visiting, she always makes the extra effort to make sure we get together.

Were are not June Cleaver, nor Stepford's wives and we don't live on respective Wisteria Lanes but we've got history! = )

ER Trip during Trip

The kids and I went away this weekend to Nana and Papa's weekend lake house (well, mobile home, but we still call it the lake house!) in Wisconsin.

With the Nanarazzi always around with her camera phone, we were able to catch this happy moment at the ER in Edgerton, WI this past Sunday.

So this is what happened..... I was pulling up Autumn's pants and she was being silly and doing the 'sack of potatoes' trick where she drops like dead weight to the floor. which I grab her hands or arms all the time so she won't slam onto the floor. I had pulled her up again and she was standing, but I knew she was gonna go down again so I reached for her arms and got hold of her wrists, just as she was potato sacking.......end result, dislocated radial head (the bone between
the wrist and the elbow).

She was gingerly holding her arm, but I thought she was tired from being at the beach and then pool earlier and was 'over emphasizing' her pain. (I thought maybe I squished her wrist or maybe she fell on it after). So we tried to eat dinner and she didn't want any one to come near her arm, so I figured maybe it's fractured.......The nurse right away said dislocation and the Dr. came in a little while later. He asked her (when he pointed) if it hurt. She said yes to her wrist, elbow, shoulder, head, and other arm........he then took her arm, and she was crying (but not ridiculously, more scared than anything) and he exclaimed it was 'milk maid elbow', and that he just slid it back into place. We took x-rays just to make sure.

Before we went to x-ray Nana shot this picture, because within about a minute of the Dr. putting the arm back(the realization that there was no more pain) she was feeling better. Earlier her pain was the sad, crying face....almost a 10.........hooray for Edgerton Wisconsin Hospital!

You know, I never swung her around by her arms cause I thought that was bad for her arms, and oddly I had swung her by her arms a couple times recently, thinking that may be crazy talk.........it didn't happen then, but it happened now, so I'm a believer. The hospital staff said it happens a lot (around the pool (throwing kids in and stuff), stepping off a curb in Mom
and Dad's hands, etc.). Mom insisted on going with me to the ER in case they were going to accuse me a child abuse (she was there when it happened). She said she thought David dislocated his arm when he was younger and they asked him a lot of questions hinting/searching for child
abuse........un-nerving enough that your child is in pain so to add to it, they must've been pretty accusatory.....

Anywho, we still had a lovely time and plan on going again, but perhaps it will wait til after the wedding! = ) We've got much-a-do goings on!
